Blood is Just a Word

They say blood is thicker,
but all I see is the stain
red like rage, like betrayal,
like the weight of your name.

You speak, and the air turns poison,
every word laced with spite,
cutting me open,
just to see if I’ll fight.

But I’m tired.
Tired of war with a ghost,
tired of caring the most -
when you never cared at all.

Family is chosen in love,
not chained by birthright.
So go -
vanish into your own darkness.
I owe you nothing.

Not my peace.
Not my pain.
Not my name.

Constructed Limits

The walls are measured, set in place,
each angle drawn with careful pace.
A structure firm, precise, refined,
yet leaves no open space behind.

The ceiling holds, the floors endure,
designed to stand, secure and sure.
No gaps to breach, no faults to find,
a system closed by its design.

A window shows the world outside,
a door remains, though rarely tried.
The framework strong, the plan complete,
yet movement stays within the beat.

A boundary built by careful hands,
not by demand, not by commands.
Yet here within, the steps repeat,
while open paths stay incomplete.

Whispers in the Attic

Beneath the attic's gentle, wooden loom,
I wove my wonders, treasures small but bright,
A haven tucked within my childhood room.

I crouched beneath the beams to feel their might,
Their arching curves a shield from all my fears,
And watched the shadows shift with waning light.

In that small world, where silence calmed my tears,
I found peace beneath the rafters' bloom,
A hidden space where I could leave behind the years.

The attic door aglow, a sacred room,
Where shadows fade, and memories take flight,
I find my peace beneath the quiet gloom.

A Walk to Remember

Your steps are slow, but steady still,
We walk the path beneath the hill.
Your hand in mine, once strong, now frail,
Yet full of stories you regale.

The autumn leaves, like memories, fall,
A tapestry of times we recall.
You speak of days when I was small,
Your love the thread that wove it all.

The air is crisp, the evening near,
Yet in your eyes, the past is clear.
You smile and tell me not to cry,
For love like ours will never die.

Though years may pass and seasons turn,
These moments stay, as lessons burn.
A walk to remember, side by side,
With you, my mother, my heart, my guide.

Echoes of the Day

The day’s chaos lingers, a restless tide,
waves of voices crash, they won’t subside.
The echoes remain where silence should be,
a battlefield carved deep inside of me.

Footsteps of hours march through my brain,
each moment heavy, a whisper of strain.
The sun may have set, but shadows stay,
haunting the corners, unbidden, they play.

Yet somewhere beneath this riotous sound,
a numbness begins to settle, profound.
It wraps like fog, cold and thick,
a cure, a curse - it numbs too quick.

The mind wavers, unable to decide,
to fight or surrender, to stand or to hide.
And so I drift, caught in between,
the wreckage of chaos, the blank unseen.

Play the Hand

Not the cards you’re given,
but the turn you take,
the weight of waiting,
the steady breath,
the look unshaken.

You’ll learn the art of folding,
know when to raise,
and when to hold close
what's hidden,
what you don’t yet show.

The deal isn’t destiny -
it’s in the slip of a finger,
the flick of a wrist,
the light in your eyes
as you lean in and play.

The Game of Wanting

What I want... slips from reach,
A ghost in the dark, a word out of speech.
I stretch out my hands, but all I find,
A space filled with longing, a restless mind.

What I have... I don’t crave,
Leftovers from battles I didn’t save.
They gather dust on a crowded shelf,
Fragments of a life that’s not myself.

What I seek... hides away,
A treasure buried, led astray.
Maps I’ve followed that fade to mist,
Paths that twist and then don’t exist.

What I found... I can’t face,
Truths too sharp, too full of grace.
They cut like glass, they burn like fire,
Testing the edge of my heart’s desire.

What I’ve endured... I didn’t deserve,
Echoes of choices that dip and swerve.
Lessons etched in scars and lines,
Worn through years and stolen time.

How much more elusive, will life dare to be?
A riddle of shadows, never set free.
I’m caught in the chase, in the wanting’s snare,
As life holds its secrets, just out of air.

Feeling Stoned

Eyes half-closed,
the world bleeds slow—
a smear of noise,
a hum too loud.
Thoughts calcify,
stacked stones, heavy
as sleep.
I move but don't;
a puppet, a shadow—
arms draped in fog,
nerves dulled to dust.
Life unfolds,
unasked, unhurried,
like smoke curling,
like ash drifting,
and I—
silent, sunk,
carved in cold stone.

Fated Hearts, Eternal Promise

A story of love, of hearts entwined,
drawn together, beyond design.
Though fate once wrote our paths askew,
our bond was forged when time was new.

These eyes that searched through endless night,
now meet your gaze in morning light.
Stay close to me, don’t drift away,
by your side, I vow to stay.

I’ll find you now, or lose it all,
with every rise, with every fall.
So hold me tight, our spirits one,
in your love’s glow, my life’s begun.

Two by Two: Her Map of Hearts

She sketches grids, a girl alone,
Mapping love in lines and tone.
Two by two, she starts to see
How hearts can part by destiny.

Top left: sparks, intense and bright,
Where lovers burn like stars at night.
Quick to catch, yet soon to fade—
A fleeting flame, a lesson made.

Below, a quiet box she keeps,
Where kindness rests and comfort sleeps.
Here lie friends who know her well,
An enduring, magic spell.

To one side, excitement’s thrill,
The dizzy pull, the fleeting fill.
Yet shifting to a steady ground,
Where trust and faith are truly found.

In grids and squares, she seeks to chart
The lines that shape her heart and art.
Two by two, she makes her start—
To learn love's map and know her heart.

Becoming Her

She wasn’t born knowing herself,
she uncovered her piece by piece,
on a road long and rough.

Each misstep revealed a truth,
each hardship, a key,
unlocking parts of her soul.

As the path twisted,
with trials to bear,
the deeper she ventured,
the more she became.

In every bruise and scar,
she found strength,
in every doubt, a spark.
The harsher the journey,
the more she emerged—
resilient, unwavering.

With every jagged mile,
she grew into herself,
until the woman she was meant to be
stood tall at the journey’s end.

Flight

she wasn't meant to be
grounded in a cage
the open sky beckoned her
it was here where
she truly belonged
she had strong wings, and
she knew she could fly
as high as she wanted
scaling new heights
each time she soared, and
took flight

                ... n' so she flew

Still & Silent

when turbulent times
made her decadent
she would adopt
stretches of silence
flying low
to the depths
of her soul
to listen to
the waves
surging within
light as a feather
not deafening
the quiet
yet stoic
in her stillness
she would see the she
that wasn't the she
she should have been

in the tranquility
of the still and silent
she would find herself again
each time. every time.

Child of destiny

an expression of love
filled with mirth
a seed of human
birthed on earth
an epitome of beauty
chaste, rare
a paragon of history
mystical faire
an alchemic artistry

Rantings of my mind...

for years, I let
the weight of other people's
expectations wear me down
almost everything I did
refracted through judgements
which were not mine
much as I would like to deny
it afflicted my heart and mind

PAUSE

it took me long to learn
to burn the bridges
not meant for me
and, love the footprints of my feet
walking away into a newfound
rainbow of credence and ecstasy

By Faith

by faith, I believe
that faith is choosing to believe
that the journey of life is meant to be, the way it is

by faith, I believe
that eventually things will fall in place
that there is HOPE always and this truth cannot be displaced

by faith, I believe
that when life's valleys seem mired and dark
there will be a conduit out there that will take me out

by faith, I believe
that I am not alone
that there is an angel up there watching my every move

by faith, I believe
that when the time is ripe
the Universe will conspire to reveal what is right

by faith, I believe
that it is in faith  that I have to BELIEVE
to move on in Life

Sometimes...

a soul, seeking
hoping and yearning

a heart, longing for
love and peace

a traveler, in quest of
untread paths and fresh air

a seeker, pursuing
answers and light

she was beautifully out of place
she was magically blended in it

she was sometimes that
she was sometimes this

a palpable spirit who danced in abandon
filled with simplicity n' bliss!

Stringing the Unstrung

a chance look at
an unending stream
gushing into an ocean
awakened her
from the dormancy
she had become
so accustomed to

the wind on her skin
the smell of the ether
the sound of the waves
incited her to create
her own music
by stringing together
the strings, unstrung

Observer and I

she sits alone watching a world of her own appearing lost but she is not she wants to understand and know much more which when her 'she' is 'I' she cannot know the order, the light amidst the chaos and fright the unsolicited incite that deflect her might the illusory contours that keep her ashore the obscure metaphors that chain her to her yore the twisted crossroads that debilitate her will the monochromes, the shadows that hold her still it's then when she faces so many ‘why’s’ that she let's the Observer become the I
